These are dental consonants and the tip of your tongue should touch the tips of your upper teeth as you say them.

is similar to the t in time. When saying the tip of the tongue should touch the tip of the upper teeth. You can stick your tongue out beyond your teeth to help you distinguish the sound from when you are practicing.

for थाली nf. a kind of big plate.

is the aspirated partner of . It is pronounced like but strongly aspirated.

for दरवाज़ा nm. door.

is similar to the d in does. When saying touch the tip of the upper teeth with the tip of the tongue.

for धमाका nm. explosion.

is the aspirated form of . It is pronounced like but with a strong out breath. Note that this character has its top open and the head stroke is not drawn across it. This distinguishes it from which came earlier in the normal order of the script.

for नाक nf. nose.

is similar to the n in not. When saying your tongue should touch the base of the upper teeth. Note: when writing this character it is important to put a little loop in the ‘nose’ of the to distinguish it from .
