Multi-Faith Prayer Meeting for World Peace
Bodhgaya, 26 May. On the occasion of Buddha Jubilee in the sacred land of Bodhgaya a Multi-faith Prayer meeting for world peace was organised. Representatives of all Religions were present in this meeting. The chief participant was Prof. Samdong Rinpoche the Prime Minister of the Tibetan Government in Exile.
This was the first time that the Mahabodhi Temple Management Committee had organised a Multi-faith Prayer meeting. The special feature of this meeting was that it was arranged at the site of the Buddha's enlightenment with the intention of being for World Peace. The Chairmanship of the meeting was performed by Somdong Rinpoche the Prime Minister of the Tibetan Government in exile.
The Christian representative was Benedict J. Osta of Patna, the Hindu representative was Sadanand Maharajji of the Ramkrishna Mission Ranchi, the Jain representative was Acharya Sadhvi Candanaji of Virayatana Rajgir, the Sikh representative was from the Patna Gurudwara and the Muslim representative was from the Imarate Sariya Patna. This program ran until late into the evening.
On this occasion the journal 'Prajna' of the Temple Management Committee, which has not appeared for 26 years, was launched again by Somdong Rinpoche the Prime Minister of the Tibetan Government in exile. This journal was issued by the committee until 1974. Now its publication is to be begun again.
