Bodhgaya decorated with Buddhist Flags for Festival
Bodhgaya, 24 May. The Temple Management Committee is completely caught up in the preparations for the joyful celebration of the 2546 Anniversary Full Moon of the Lord Buddha. The whole of the temple, temple Management Committee offices and Mahabodhi Society area is being decorated with the [five-coloured] Buddhist 'Pancasheela' flag and pennants. Along with this before the sacred festival in order to clean and wash the temple compound area fire engines are providing water in sufficient quanitities.
Near the Temple Management Committee Offices a workmen can be seen busily constructing a welcome gateway which is being erected for those visiting. Along with this the final touches are being made to the pavillion on the Kalacakra Maidan in which a cultural festival will be held on the life of the Lord Buddha.
The In-Charge of the Committee the Ven. Bodhipala said that in order to provide sufficient water to the New-Buddhists and Tourists a water tanker had been requested from the Town Administration. According to the Ven. Bodhipala on the occassion of the festival from 5 to 7 on the evening of the festival there will be a multi-faith prayer for peace for which the arrival in Bodhgaya from the 25th of various Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, Jains, Sikhs and Muslims is likely. The preparations for the festival in the temple compound are being carried out under the supervision of the International Buddhist Council and members of the committee with great promptness.
